It has been officially stated that Chad Pennington is out as the New York Jets starting quarterback was replaced by Clemens for this week’s match against the Washington Redskins. This was a long time coming but it was probably only a couple of days too late. Regardless, Mangini made the right move today thus avoiding a week’s worth of media circus: he announced the switch at the first possible moment. Mangini has made this decision not based on singling out Chad Pennington for where they were, but based on the fact that Mangini thinks Kellen had earned that opportunity.
