Seattle Seahawks have coach in the wings

The Seattle Seahawks will be getting a new coach after head coach, Mike Holmgren, retires next year. Jim Mora, 46, will take the Seahawks from 2009 and go further on down the road to hopefully the championships. It has been speculated by many in the group that Mora has at least a five year contract. The team is supposed to be holding a press conference to discuss the coaches and their future in football

Jim Mora was the coach for the Atlanta Falcons before coming to Seattle. He had been their coach since the 2004 season. He was fired in 2007 due to the teams record that year of 26 – 22. He has been assisting Holmgren with the Seahawks for about a year. They kept Mora out of the spotlight though, so no one would be thinking he was even in the picture when Holmgren finally decided to leave. The team calls him a coach-in-waiting.

Holmgren states this is the opportune time to leave. The team is play ready and all the players are healthy. This will be the year to watch the Seahawks come out of that shell and start to pummel anything in their path. It should be a great year under Holmgren and Mora’s leadership.

The giants overshadow the patriots at the Super bowl

Sixteen teams will meet in Africa for the African Nations Cup championship. This championship has caught on and more popular than it used be. It used be ignored completely among sports fans. The playing quality has gotten better every year now that some of the players play all over the world against different teams.

Moon decided not to take a breathalyzer test. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine and was mandated to community service for a total of forty hours. It is the second time in eight months that he has been caught drunk driving.

Devin Hester, the Bear’s MVP this year, has broken his own personal record. He has made a total of seven combined punt and touchdown returns. He was performing in the wide receiver role this season and he always has a great position on the field. His great talent could lead the Bears to victory once more.

The new Dolphin’s coach, Cam Cameron, was fired because of a losing streak of a 1-15 season. They did however defeat the Baltimore Ravens to improve their record. It was decided it was time for some fresh blood in the coaching role.

Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback and 2006 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Warren Moon has again been charged with driving while intoxicated, while driving through the town of Kirkland in the early hours of December 28th for speeding. Moon was pulled over by Trooper Stewart after an extended amount of time waiting for Moon to stop the vehicle. The smell of intoxicating substances was evident inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Trooper Stewart arrested Moon for a suspected DUI. Moon refused to take a breathalyzer test. This will be his second arrest for intoxicated driving in eight months. His earlier arrest was in April of 2007. Although his breathalyzer results were under the normal limits for intoxication, he was arrested anyway.  Moon entered a plea of guilty for this charge and received a $350 fine and forty hours of community service. Also, included in the sentence was the requirement that he attends alcohol and drug awareness training. It is expected that he will also enter a guilty plea although it is not clear what penalty he might receive from the court for this second offense.
