Seattle Seahawks have coach in the wings
The Seattle Seahawks will be getting a new coach after head coach, Mike Holmgren, retires next year. Jim Mora, 46, will take the Seahawks from 2009 and go further on down the road to hopefully the championships. It has been speculated by many in the group that Mora has at least a five year contract. The team is supposed to be holding a press conference to discuss the coaches and their future in football
Jim Mora was the coach for the Atlanta Falcons before coming to Seattle. He had been their coach since the 2004 season. He was fired in 2007 due to the teams record that year of 26 – 22. He has been assisting Holmgren with the Seahawks for about a year. They kept Mora out of the spotlight though, so no one would be thinking he was even in the picture when Holmgren finally decided to leave. The team calls him a coach-in-waiting.
Holmgren states this is the opportune time to leave. The team is play ready and all the players are healthy. This will be the year to watch the Seahawks come out of that shell and start to pummel anything in their path. It should be a great year under Holmgren and Mora’s leadership.
