Seahawks coach return to minicamp after minor surgery

The Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren was seen with his boys on Thursday at the minicamp after a mini surgery forced him to stay away from the camp for a couple of days. There were no details revealed about the surgery, but coach Mike said that he was ready for the grueling season ahead and expected his team to perform well in the forthcoming football season. Holmgren is expecting all his players to fully utilize the minicamp practice sessions so that they will be ready for battle once the NFL season begins. Tickets to the games featuring Seattle Seahawks are currently being sold through various online ticketing sites.

Coughlin had it all Mapped out Earlier

Tom Coughlin, the coach of the winning team of Super Bowl XLII had a meeting with the media people at the NFL combine. He was a satisfied man and disclosed that he had everything mapped out before the match and was confident of its outcome. One year back Coughlin attended a press meeting and people were skeptical about the success of the team and coach at that time. Coughlin had all the reason to be proud, after the Giants defeated the New England team in the Super Bowl for 17-14. He has created a team which is capable of producing continuous success and there is no doubt that he will get an extension of his contract with Giants.

Coughlin is not a person who wants to ponder over the happenings in the past even if it is something good. He reached Indianapolis and has already started searching eligible draft players to prepare for the next season. Coughlin said he is always busy with various things associated with the match like exit meetings, player rankings, evaluations of players and free agents etc. The Giants have altered the Schedule for the off season as they had a late start for the preparation. Coughlin is positive that with the young line up of his team he can approach the next season with confidence.

Moon to be arraigned on DUI charges

Ex quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings Warren Moon is going to enter a plea on February, 5  after being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges stem from an arrest in December when a police officer observed Moon’s vehicle with expired plates on the Highway 520 Bridge. At the time Moon still had a valid Texas driver’s license, meanwhile his right to drive had been suspended in

Washington State. Warren currently works broadcasting on Seattle Seahawks’ radio as a color analyst. A spokesman for the Seahawks had no comment on this situation.

Why did the Dolphins Fire Cameron?

The Miami Dolphins, or to be exact,  new Dolphins’ boss Bill Parcells fired the team’s head coach Cam Cameron after 1-15 season. This decision was made after the Dolphins defeated the Baltimore Ravens in a football game at Dolphin Stadium, to improve their record to 1-13 in Miami. Cameron was sacked Thursday Jan. 3, 2008 by. It means that the reeling franchise will have its fifth head coach in five seasons in 2008.

Is Rosenfels Still Perfect as the Houston Texans’ Starting Quarterback?

nfl.jpgRosenfels made three amazing touchdowns in the fight against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which ended up with the Texans’ victory 28-14 even despite Rosenfels’s loss in two fumbles. In fact, Rosenfels has won both games he’s started in place of the injured Matt Schaub. Rosenfels had two touchdown passes of 4 yards and one for 8, and Andre Davis added a score on a 97-yard kickoff return. The quarterback finished 27-of-36 for 209 yards.

Rams Stun New Orleans

Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt found the old magic, teaming with Marc Bulger to give previously winless Rams a surprising 37-29 victory over the Saints, who had not lost in a month. Marc Bulger finished with 302 yards and short touchdown passes to Isaac Bruce and Drew Bennett. Steven Jackson, who was recovering from a back injury, rushed for a short touchdown and threw a 2-yard halfback pass to Randy McMichael for a score.

Let us root for New England to Have Perfect Season

Among NFL stories that could never be missed, one probably at the top of the list is the annual look back to the undefeated Dolphins of 1972.

Every time some club gets 6 or 7 games unbeaten into a season, the 1972 Miami Dolphins are dredged up. They have been dining out on this for thirty-five seasons and enough already.

Every generation of NFL fans wants to see history made on his watch. We want the thrills here and now, but not in the past or uncertain future. However, we get quite a few as most records are made to be broken. Apparently, some records simply cannot be surpassed because of fundamental changes in the game. Nobody can even threaten Cy Young’s 511 victories or Glenn Hall’s 502 consecutive games by a goalie. It can’t happen today and this age, and we know it and that is fine.

But what about an undefeated season? Other than those who hate the New England Patriots, for whatever reason, is there anyone who doesn’t want to see it? The legendary Jack Nicklaus’s greatness can never be diminished, but we are hoping to witness Tiger Woods winning his nineteenth major. In sports, we are waiting for a new story to witness and 19-0 New Endlang Patriots, or Tiger Woods reaching nineteen majors is a truly big story.

The whole business of the 1972 Miami Dolphins resurfaced this week after Shula, who coached the team, was quoted as churlishly suggesting an unbeaten season might require an asterisk because of the National Football League punishment for the New England Patriot rule-breaking in “Spygate” earlier this year.

New England Wins Battle of Unbeatens

patriots.pngJust once we’d like to see Bill Belichick admit that he has been running up the score for many weeks to stick it to the people calling him out during Spygate. Just once we’d like him to comment on the notion that this New England team might be the best in the League history, might just be the 1st unbeatable team in a quarter of a century years. New England is proud to have one of the best quarterbacks in the League in Tom Brady, one of the best wide receivers in Randy Moss, and many more. We all know the players. But what they gained last Sunday might be nearly as important. It is home field advantage in a potential AFC Championship game rematch with Indianapolis.

Mistake-Prone Baltimore No Match for Revenge-Minded Pittsburgh

The entire Ravens roster gathered about twenty yards onto the field yesterday night for the pregame coin toss, glaring at the Steelers and looking as if they were threatening the type of bodily harm for which they are famous. Steelers linebacker Harrison said it looked like they wanted to rumble. Harrison authored what Pittsburgh coach Tomlin termed a “spectacular” overall outing in Steelers’ dominating 38-7 win. Pittsburgh, celebrating the franchise’s 75th anniversary and seeking a measure of revenge for their 2 losses to Baltimore last season, by a combined 58-7 count, took full advantage.

Atlanta Gives the Ball to Leftwich

Joey Harrington was replaced by Byron Leftwich as the Falcons’ starting quarterback. The team’s coach Bobby Petrino said yesterday that he was planning to keep Byron Leftwich as his starter for the rest of the current season, as he hopes to spark an offense that has struggled without Michael Vick, who had been suspended.

Atlanta offense failed to score off 3 New York turnovers Monday night. New York won, 31-10, dropping the falcons to 1-5. Bobby Petrino indicated that Leftwich might have played against New York if he had not missed much practice time a week before with his sprained ankle.

The Tennessee Titans quarterback Young rested his strained right quadriceps by watching practice yesterday, leaving this work to the backup Collins. Jeff Fisher said Vince Young would be day to day and might not temporarily practice as Tennessee (3-2) prepare to visit Vince Young’s hometown team, the Texans (3-3).

The rookie Edwards is going to make his 3rd straight start Sunday when the Bills play host to the Ravens, leading to further questions about whether J. P. Losman is ever going to get his job back. Dick Jauron, the team’s coach, made the announcement yesterday, saying he would not commit to a full-time starter beyond this weekend.

The NFL reinstated Koren Robinson, the Green Bay wide receiver, yesterday. It was in fact the 1st day Koren was eligible to return from his 1-year suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. He had also petitioned for reinstatement to Commissioner Roger Goodell meeting with him earlier this week.
