Policeman Apologizes

Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats had a family emergency last week. His mother-in-law was dying in the hospital and was in a bit of a rush. Perhaps he was speeding or coasted through a red light or stopsign. It’s not completely clear what had happened, but a police officer happened to be there and stopped him in the hospital parking lot. He drew his weapon in an over-abundance of caution. But he held Moats in that parking lot for an extended period of time, to give him a ticket and lecture. After another officer came and some hospital personnel came out to tell the officer that the mother-in-law was actually dying, the officer still held him. She died and Moats & his wife couldn’t be there for it. The officer was put on admin leave until the investigation is complete. The chief said that it wasn’t improper action, but it was inconsiderate and lacking in common sense. The officer has apologized, and said he was embarassed.
