Brett Favre Tests Ankle…Return Looking Likely

From Drew Brees predicting #4’s return to the Minnesota Vikings to news that Brett Favre has been working out his surgically repaired ankle for a few weeks, it seems more and more likely everyday that the future hall-of-famer will return to the NFL this season. After previous off seasons where Favre’s decision to play or not to play dominated the headlines, it has been a much more subdued media blitz on Hattiesburg, Mississippi this year. It was reported that Favre has been throwing to high school receivers at the local school for a number of weeks. The 40-year-old has one of his best seasons in his career in the 2009-10 season, but was unable to defeat the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game. Everyone wants to see Favre and Brees square off in the NFL season opener on September 9th at the Superdome. The 19 year NFL veteran has yet to tell the Minnesota Vikings if he will play next season.

Ankle Surgery Needed For Brett Farve

The ongoing Brett Farve saga of “will he, won’t he” has taken another turn with news that the 40 year old quarterback will need surgery on his ankle if he wants to play this year for the Vikings. The future hall-of-famer had one of his best seasons in his 19 year career, passing for 4,202 yards, 33 TDs, and a career low 7 interceptions. It is not clear if the surgery will prevent Farve from starting the Vikings opening game, should he decide to return to the NFL for his 20th her the NFL. Last season, Farve had a torn bicep surgically repaired amazingly by Dr. James Andrews. The Vikings and Farve were one interception away from going to the Super Bowl last year, and with only a few players leaving Minneapolis this off season many are expecting the same success for the Purple People Eaters. Though there are plenty of people who are over caring about if Farve returns to the game, but I for one would love to see #4 for one more year in the NFL.

Vikings and Colts Game

peytonmanning.jpg Both the Vikings and Colts want to avoid going 0-2 to start out the new season. The only problem is, one of them will. This Sunday the two squads will face each other at 1:00 pm ET in Minnesota. For two teams that were projected to be division leaders, one of them will fall to an embarrassing start.

Maybe it will be worse for the Colts who have started out at least 7-0 in the last three seasons of NFL play (an NFL record). Under the leadership of Peyton Manning, the Colts have been a powerhouse in the AFC South for as long as one can remember. But the sloppy offensive output last week against the Bears, compounded by the equally (if not worse) defensive play, has many Colts fans worried. The Colts’ defense was unable to stifle the Chicago Bears running game…something that needs to fixed before they face the electric Adrian Peterson of the Vikings.

But the Vikings also looked poor in their first start against the Packers. Aside from Adrian Peterson (who rushed for a touchdown and 103 yards), the Vikings offense was all but absent from the field. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson threw a substandard 16-35 and often failed to move the chains for the offense. Their defense had a hard time containing the passing attack of new Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Imagine what a veteran like Peyton might do…

It’s ultimately going to be disappointing for one of the teams but expect a hearty battle from both sides.

Moon to be arraigned on DUI charges

Ex quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings Warren Moon is going to enter a plea on February, 5  after being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges stem from an arrest in December when a police officer observed Moon’s vehicle with expired plates on the Highway 520 Bridge. At the time Moon still had a valid Texas driver’s license, meanwhile his right to drive had been suspended in

Washington State. Warren currently works broadcasting on Seattle Seahawks’ radio as a color analyst. A spokesman for the Seahawks had no comment on this situation.
