49ers Name Jim Harbaugh Head Coach

Following his near-perfect season with the Stanford Cardinals, Jim Harbaugh will make the jump for the college ranks to the pros. The San Francisco 49ers and Harbaugh agreed today on a five-year, $25 million deal. Although other NFL teams and the Michigan Wolverines (Harbaugh’s Alma Mater) were said to have been pursuing Harbaugh, the former NFL quarterback went with 49ers. Harbaugh will receive a massive pay raise and will not have to move his family. Stanford and San Francisco are only separated by 36 miles. The Oakland Raiders were also though to be in the running for Harbaugh after owner Al Davis surprisingly fired head coach Tom Cable. The Bay Area’s other NFL team had a better season in 2010 than San Francisco. The 49ers are weaker at the quarterback position with Jason Campbell showing some good signs in Oakland. The 49ers do have considerable pedigree historically and some talented players on roster in Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Patrick Willis, and Justin Smith. However, the 49ers do play in the worst division in the NFL - the NFC West. We shall see if Harbaugh can restore this once proud franchise back to its former place.

San Francisco 49ers sign Barry Sims

The former offensive tackle of Oakland Raiders Barry Sims signed a two year deal with the San Francisco 49ers last Monday and the financial dealings were not disclosed by both the parties. The agent of Sims, Ken Vierra, said that Sims is very much happy to be playing for the 49ers and really liked San Francisco. The 49ers are happy to sign the deal with Sims and are hoping that his inclusion will bring in more laurels to them. Sims is a regular starter for the Oakland Raiders during the past five football seasons and his experience will come in handy for the 49ers. The fans are eagerly waiting for the ticket sales to commence.

Balmer arrives to his new home San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers will be very strong in their defense in this upcoming new football season as their first round pick Kentwan Balmer has landed in San Francisco. Balmer said that his eyes were filled with tears of joy when he came to know that he will be playing for the 49ers as this has been the team that his family members have been supporting for quite sometime now.

Balmer said that he was very excited to be in the 49ers facility and has got his batteries charged up on seeing the five Super Bowls. Balmer said that he will do all that he can to see his team get their hands on the Super Bowl once again. Balmer was very much happy to see his 49er locker for the first time and said that he will establish a good rapport with the new defensive line coach of the 49ers Jim Tomsula.

Patrick Willis is NFL’s Best of October

One of the brightest moments in the San Francisco 49ers’ fading season was yesterday’s announcement that their linebacker Willis was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for October. Patrick Willis took the news as just another daily stride in the learning and building process of his professional baseball career, acknowledging that this honor is justification for his hard work and great performance. The player leads the NFL in tackles per game and has seventy-three in 7 games. Willis ranks 2nd in the NFL in total tackles. He is behind Barrett Ruud from Tampa Bay’s, who has seventy-eight in 8 matches.
