McCown Back After Chainsaw Accident

After a brush with a chainsaw left a cut on his index finger, Dolphin quarterback Josh McCown needed six stitches. After being on a six week recovery process, McCown is expected to be fit before the start of training camp next week, reports agent Mike McCartney. McCown has vowed not to touch a chainsaw again. McCown was signed for a two year $6.25M contract this February. He has his eyes set on becoming the 13th starting quarterback after Miami’s Dan Marino retired. He will be competing with John Beck and Chad Henne for the bid. This will be a very exciting season for the Dolphins, and the fans already have their tickets to show their support.

Cornerback Talent Galore

Scouts from all teams are having difficulty deciding the best cornerback who deserves a place in the NFL draft. With a great assortment of potential cornerbacks flooding the football scene, both fans and members of the press are on the edge of their seats trying to see who will be the next NFL star. Among those who are considered top notch prospects are Leodis McKelvin from Troy, Mike Jenkins from South Florida, Aqib Talib from Kansas as well as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie from Tennessee State. NFL scouts have their jobs cut out for them and they need to quickly evaluate individual players, award them grade-point values and rank them according to their expertise. Their deadline is April 26, and that’s when the NFL draft commences.

Interestingly, more names have begun to crop up. Among those who are considered to be up-and-coming talents include Brandon Flowers from Virginia Tech, Antoine Cason from Arizona and Penn’s State Justin King.

Chargers receive boost ahead of Patriots game

San Diego Chargers were on the receiving end of some good news about their AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots when their prized running back LaDainian Tomlinson returned to practice.. The Chargers came out victorious in their game against

Tomlinson’s return was a huge boost to Norv Turner. Fellow teammate and quarterback Phillip Rivers suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The quarterback is deperately anxious to return for their game against the undefeated Patriots, but his status for the game is questionable. Star tight end Antonio Gates did not practice for an entire week before the recent game against the Colts, and may do the same for the Patriots game. Quarterback Billy Volek could be handed his first start since 2005 after a promising performance by against the Colts .

Is Devin Hester going to waste in Chicago?

Devin Hester has broken his own record with 7 combined punt and kick return touchdowns. This happened despite efforts from many team to squib kick the ball or kick it away from him. This season, when used as a wide receiver, Hester score two touchdowns and was named the Bears MVP. Devin Hesters game changing ability is amazing. Whether its by giving the bears better field position or running the ball back for a touchdown there is no doubt that Hester is an important contribution to the team.

Ravens’ search slows down

 

 The Baltimore Ravens’ search committee hit the pause button Wednesday after five consecutive days of interviewing candidates for their head-coaching vacancy. The Ravens have  to ask permission to speak to Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.  Plus the team is expected to hold discussions with former San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer for future games.

 

NY Giants vs Dallas Cowboys

NY Giants will meet Dallas Cowboys. The New York Giants beat Tampa Bay 24-14 to earn one of the National Conference places In Sunday’s games. The Giants will travel south to play the Dallas Cowboys at the weekend.

Why did the Dolphins Fire Cameron?

The Miami Dolphins, or to be exact,  new Dolphins’ boss Bill Parcells fired the team’s head coach Cam Cameron after 1-15 season. This decision was made after the Dolphins defeated the Baltimore Ravens in a football game at Dolphin Stadium, to improve their record to 1-13 in Miami. Cameron was sacked Thursday Jan. 3, 2008 by. It means that the reeling franchise will have its fifth head coach in five seasons in 2008.

Ohio State Buckeyes

There will be a game that will take its place in history as one of the greatest ever played in Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes rallied from a 13-point deficit to upset No. 7 LSU, 36-33. Flanker Bobby Olive was the star of the final act. His 30-yard runback of LSU’s free kick put the ball on the Tigers’ 38.

The New York Jets

The New York JetsThe Jets and Chiefs have been advised by the NFL that their Dec. 30 regular-season finale, originally scheduled to be the Sunday night game, has tentatively been moved to a 4:15 p.m. EST kickoff that day. If the change is made, CBS would air the game. An official announcement from the league may not be made until late this Sunday night. All fans planning to attend the Chiefs game should be aware of the tentative time change. The Chiefs game was originally the Jets’ second national-TV game this season.
