Stevens will not feature in first two Bucs’ games

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team will not be able to field free agent tight end Jerramy Stevens for the first two games of the new season as he has been suspended by NFL in violation of the NFL drug abuse policy. Jerramy Stevens was picked up by the Bucs’ in April following his release from the Seattle Seahawks after his arrest for possession of marijuana. The Bucs’ fans were very much excited by the prospect of Stevens joining the team and his suspension might cause a dent in the ticket sales for the first two games of the upcoming season.

Ex-Buccaneer found dead

Who killed Thomas McHale? That is the question on everyone’s mind as police are searching for clues about the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ player’s death. The 45 year old player was discovered dead at a friend’s home as told by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in the wee hours of Sunday morning in the vicinity of Tampa. Although no foul play has been recorded, an autopsy will be done to gain insight about his death. McHale has played numerous seasons for the Buccaneers from the years 1987 to 1992. He later went to further his football career with the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign veteran safety Wilson

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on a signing spree this free agency season as they have already signed four new defensive players in the first two weeks of free agency. In the third week of the free agency on Monday, the Bucs went on and signed unrestricted free agent safety Eugene Wilson and the terms of agreement, as per the team’s policy, was not disclosed. Eugene is a veteran safety player who has been a member of two Super Bowl championship teams in New England. Wilson has served the Patriots for his first five seasons and he helped the New England Patriots to capture the league title in his rookie year as well as the next year.

Wilson is regarded to be a very well organized defender and has started in 55 games out of his 62 games during his five year tenure for the Patriots. Wilson also made 8 playoff starts during his stint with the Patriots and his career stats are as follows: 252 tackles, 28 passes that were defended, 4 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, 13 kick stops and 10 interceptions. Wilson suffered hamstring and groin injuries in the 2006 season and made a roaring comeback last season where he led his team, the New England Patriots, to a 16-0 win record during the regular season, which was the first by any team in the history of NFL.
